For a team to pull off a State Title win, camaraderie, communication and want for each and every other player’s success is essential. Also, and equally important, it depends on a team’s ability to learn from their mistakes.
“Sometimes losing a game helps more than winning,” says defensive head coach Brian Crooks in describing the Hornets loss to Saddleback College during their last season. “When you’re winning games you don’t want to change anything. We were able to correct stuff and they would actually listen.”
“They knew it wasn’t going to work unless they came together.”
“I think it did two things,” head coach for the offensive team Garrett Campbell says, “I think it galvanized us as a unit, as a team. It brought out the team mate factor- the trust factor that players have to have. That really came shining through after that game. And also It allowed us to mature. A lot of our guys learned from that.”
