Students from FC volunteered to tell us what their happy place is. While life is busy, everyone has their own “happy place”. Many of the responses were different and unique in their own way.
Alejandra Dominguez, 48, chose a place that makes her the happiest place of all. The place she chose for her happy place is the kitchen.
She chose the kitchen because it is a place where she can show her creativity. Dominguez loves having the opportunity to cook for others because she believes it brings family together.
Cooking is one of her favorite things to do because it brings her stress levels down and enables her to relax after a long day. She says that it soothes her soul and makes her feel joyful because she knows after cooking for her family she will reunite with all her loved ones after a long day.
This was inspired when she was about ten years old coming from a huge family she grew up cooking following her Mexican culture she was taught it was always important.
Viviana Gomez, 23, chose a place that she feels the happiest. When asked what her happy place was she chose her room. She chose her room as her happy place because she believes it is her safe zone,
It’s her place to go to after a long day whether it is a good day or even a bad day. She got inspired by this because when she was younger and had a bad day she would go to her room and gather all her thoughts alone or if it was a good day she would write in her journal.
Now, she tends to do this more often with being an adult now and having more responsibilities than before. She finds being in her room relaxing because she knows no one is going to bother her and she can be alone for however long she wants to whether it is to watch movies, listen to music, or just lay on her bed.

Shelly Rodriguez, 25, chose a place where she feels the happiest. The place she chose for her happy place is the pool deck. She chose the pool deck as her happy place because she believes that it is a place for self-care and health.
She mentioned that while going for a swim she can clear the mind. Shelly constantly thinks about her techniques which helps overcome the stress that is going on in her life.
Not only does it help with stress, but it is also good for exercising because swimming helps workout the entire body all at once. She was first inspired by the pool deck when she began high school and began not only swimming but water polo as well.
She spent a period of time conditioning and it was during this time that she began to notice she was less stressed after practice. Rodriguez not only gains the physical benefits from swimming, but it also provides time to engage in an activity that she is passionate about.
These three individuals have three things in common and that is having a place to go to that makes them happy whether it is cooking, being alone in your room, or swimming by the pool. It is helpful for students to identify their own happy place where they can destress from the craziness of life.
